The brief was to design multiple projects within Carthage College’s brand guidelines. The college has a set of colors that must be used in all designs, including the logo on all content. The target audience that Carthage wants to attract are current students, faculty, and future students with their families.
For the Music Theatre Auditions poster, I wanted to make it stand out from the rest of the school’s informative signs. The client wanted to have images from previous plays or musicals to attract prospective students majoring in theatre. To make the graphic more appealing, I composed a poster of the photos given as triangles to stick out among the rest.
For the bookmark and the campus sign, I followed the brand guidelines of Carthage College to keep it simple while being instructional. Both designs help those using the bookmark or sign to get where they are going. Whether that be farther in their studies or another room where someone might not be found immediately.
All three concepts work well because they fit the college’s brand and are seen around campus. The text in the sign stands out since the darker blue from the color palette is used and is more significant than most posters. The small bookmark gives the students information on how they could study better. Finally, the Music Theatre Poster works because the department wanted to move further with the design and make an enormous banner based on the triangles used as a centerpiece for the theater.
